What we mean by a full car service
Exhaust
Exhaust system inspected for leaks, damage and deterioration.
Replacement with quality mufflers and components.
Air Conditioning
System inspected for operating pressures, leaks, deterioration
or damage to any hoses, seals or components. Drive belt tension
checked. System recharged with refrigerant.
Unless your car is one of the latest
models, its air conditioning system uses a refrigerant called
R12 containing fluorocarbons (CFC's). It is important to operate
the air conditioner at least 5 minutes every week to prevent the
system seals from drying out and leaking this ozone-depleting
substance into the atmosphere.
All new cars use a CFC free refrigerant known as R134a
which is far less damaging to the
environment. Here's how your car's air conditioning system
operates:
-
The refrigerant is contained under
pressure in a Receiver/Dryer. The system must he recharged
with refrigerant when a low level is indicated.
-
The refrigerated cold air passes
through the evaporator where it mixes with warm air from
inside the car. The refrigerant evaporates and absorbs the
heat. The cooled and evaporated air is returned to the car
and circulated via your blower.
-
The vaporised refrigerant,
meantime, passes into the compressor where it is pressurised
once more.
-
The pressurised refrigerant is
forced into the condenser coils where the refrigerant
condenses back into liquid form to repeat the cycle once
more.
Fuel System - EFI
Service includes full engine tune-up, fuel injectors cleaned to
ensure smooth running, air intake system and fuel lines
inspected, fuel filter and air cleaner checked and renewed if
necessary, full grease and oil change, full safety inspection
and report.
Engine Repairs
We handle minor and major engine repairs. We also supply and fit
exchange engines. Alternatively, engines can be rebuilt where no
replacement unit is available.
If your engine is worn and requires major mechanical work, a
reconditioned replacement engine can restore power and economy
to your vehicle.
North Sydney Automotive can supply and fit exchange
engines for most makes and models. All exchange engines are
supplied to the highest quality in automotive engineering, with
accuracy and tolerances to the manufacturer's original
specification.
All exchange engines are fully guaranteed for quality and
performance. Engines will be rebuilt where a replacement unit is
unavailable for your vehicle.
Car Servicing
Major service includes grease and oil change plus precision
Auto-Tech diagnostic tune-up and safety inspection, and report
on your cars overall mechanical condition.
Cooling system
We pressure-test the radiator, inspect hoses for leaks, radiator
cap for proper sealing, check coolant level, check water pump
for leaks or wear and all drive belts for tension and
condition.
Clutch Repairs
Full clutch service including adjustment, hydraulics and clutch
pad replacement for all makes and models.
Suspension
We test and inspect all suspension components for wear including
ball joints, shock absorbers, control arms, bushes and McPherson
struts. Any parts extra.
Brake Service
Brake Service Includes disc pad or brake shoe replacement on
front or rear wheel, using quality pads. We can also provide
disc and drum machining.
Your car's disc brakes are one of the
most vital operating systems of your car. By knowing a little
more about how the disc brakes work, you'll better understand
the importance of regular checks and servicing.
-
Wheel bearing grease must be
applied to the wheel hubs to reduce heat generated by
frequent applications of the brakes
-
The calliper has one or more
hydraulic cylinders containing pistons. Whenever you press
the brake pedal, the pistons exert pressure on the brake
pads.
-
Brake pads are metal plates with a
bonded lining of friction material. As the lining material
wears out, the metal pad moves closer to the disc. Pads
should be replaced when less than 3mm from the disc.
-
Retaining pins hold the disc pads
in the calliper. New split pins are always fitted during
replacement.
-
The disc can be easily scored and
damaged if the metal plate comes into contact with the disc.
When below certain tolerances it must be replaced.
-
A bleed nipple is provided to
ensure that any air entering the hydraulic lines is "bleeded"
off. Even a small amount of air in the system will severely
impair the operation of the brakes.
Transmission
Our Automatic Transmission Service includes replacement of
transmission fluid, cleaning and/or replacement of filter plus
adjustments as necessary.
Rear Axle
Fluid level in differential checked. Universal joint and centre
bearing checked for free play and replaced if necessary
